       Certain research studies suggest that combining AKG with other substances and shock wave therapy can improve function and alleviate pain in people suffering from Achilles tendon pain. It can also alleviate painful conditions caused by tendinopathy.

       AKG supplements are used for treating bacterial and yeast infections.

       In some cases, ketoglutarate supplements can be used for improving bone and lung health.

Alpha ketoglutarate is safe for adults to take orally for up to 3 years. 1.187 grams of alpha ketoglutarate is combined with 0.813 grams of calcium for making a single dose for treating CKD. Recommended dosage limit is thrice a week for adults.

Side Effects

There are no documented side effects of alpha-ketoglutarate when taken within the recommended dosage limits. However, there is inadequate research on the side effects of AKG on pregnant and breastfeeding women. Hence, it should be avoided in these scenarios.
